Job Description:

We have a permanent, full time opportunity for an Airside Specialist, Standards and Compliance in the Airside Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Airside Standards and Compliance, the successful candidate will be key in developing, implementing, and maintaining standards, programs and procedures in support of safe and efficient operations, and ensuring YVR’s compliance to all aviation regulations. The role requires an independent self-starter who is comfortable working in a dynamic and changing environment as part of a high performing team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting the airside environment and its operation, including development and execution of audits against aviation regulation, plans and procedures
  • Developing and/or reviewing plans related to construction projects, as well as, plans for compliance and efficiency of operations during work
  • Leading development and delivery of new programs and initiatives supporting improved efficiency and safety
  • Participating in initiation and development of capital projects and supporting execution as subject matter expert, as required
  • Providing subject matter expertise and technical guidance on aviation standards and recommended practices, as well as on YVR’s related programs, to staff and management, including as part of program or project development
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring airside standards, programs and procedures focused on aircraft maneuvering areas and requirements
  • Developing and implementing/executing on corrective action plans to address inspection deficiencies or audit findings

Job Requirements:

  • Exceptional conflict resolution skills with a commitment to customer service delivery
  • Strong critical thinking, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • At least 5 years’ experience in airside operations, supplemented by a certificate or diploma in Airport Operations; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Ability to diplomatically facilitate meetings and workshops with stakeholders that may have differing opinions or make operational decisions with limited supporting information
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Some evenings/weekend shift work hours may be required in support of operational planning and emergencies (e.g., weather)
  • Proven ability to work and make decisions in a complex, technical environment with minimal supervision
  • Experience working with multiple levels of internal and stakeholder groups
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – including presenting to large groups
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license and the ability to obtain a D/A AVOP license, as well as the ability to drive in all weather conditions, day and night
