Job Description:
The Lead Structural Engineer will collaborate with different stakeholders including: the methods team, the shop team, procurement, external contractors and external engineering consultant firms and will be responsible for
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervising the implementation of solutions (activity coordination, acceptance tests, connecting contractors/consultants and shop floor personnel, etc.)
- Developing structural inspections and designing repairs (calculations, drawings, instructions, etc.)
- Providing technical support to various departments (technical review of tenders, design safety protocols, etc.)
- Designing improvements to rail equipment (design, timelines, time and material estimates, engineering documentation, etc.)
- Providing technical advice and make decisions related to structural conditions of the equipment
- Supervising engineers and designers as required and managing external consultants
Job Requirements:
- Have more than 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with 5 years specializing in structural engineering (transportation industry experience an asset);
- Possess knowledge of mechanics, structure, welding, metals, etc.;
- The candidate must be a member of the OIQ in good standing.
- Bachelor degree in engineering (Certified Engineer, member of the OIQ);
- Knowledge of Solidworks, Autocad, and office suite;
- Bilingualism (English and French), both spoken and written;
- Have experience in project management and the ability to act with independence and initiative in recommending solutions;
