Job Description:

Reporting to the Production Superintendent, Lead Smelter, the Production Coordinator, will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective preventive and repair maintenance and shutdown scheduling to provide optimum performance of plants
  • Manage multiple shifts from a 5×2 position
  • Ensure that needs for plant improvements are identified and that action is taken to achieve improvements
  • Work with MET control teams to identify and implement process improvements while maintaining production demands
  • Coordinate work tasks with outside groups to ensure safe and timely completion of work
  • Manage the day-to-day operation and staffing requirements of the plant
  • Set operator expectations and providing constructive feedback on worker performance

Job Requirements:

  • 1 – 3 years of experience managing crews in an industrial environment
  • Knowledge of the Collective Agreement and associated Letters of Understanding
  • Demonstrated ability to drive initiatives through all steps until fully implemented
  • Ability to motivate and hold others accountable for their performance
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment
  • Good oral and written communication skills, promotes open communication and demonstrates respect for others
  • Encourages and facilitates employee ideas for continuous improvement, and fosters teamwork
