Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the successful candidate is responsible for many accounting functions and is a detailed and task oriented individual. This role requires the ability to balance multiple competing accounting priorities with accuracy and a customer service focus.
Job Responsibilities:
- Reconcile and process international incoming and outgoing payments, including verification of commission and student wires
- Process and post monthly back charges from other college departments
- Preparation of all college bank transactions and reconciliations for multiple bank accounts, including investigating and resolving reconciling items with various stakeholders
- Preparation of various complex monthly journal entries
- Provide testing and analysis for new bank initiatives
- Accounting and reporting of financial information for Niagara College Trust Fund, including reconciling trust and investment accounts, initiating required bank transfers, completing interest allocations and tracking pledge payments
Job Requirements:
- An understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, appropriate business practices and knowledge of audit requirements
- Ability to adapt to changing technologies, specifically new software applications and evolving spreadsheet techniques
- Minimum five (5) years work experience in an accounting capacity
- Strong organizational/time management skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet tight deadlines
- Three (3) year diploma/degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or similar field of study
