Job Description:

Reporting to the Registrar, the Coordinator of Financial Assistance is accountable for the efficient delivery of the Provincial, Federal and College student funding, including the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP), related programs, as well as the Bursary program to ensure that student financial need is recognized and assisted. To assist in overall student success, the incumbent provides advice and resources to students and potential students with respect to available funding programs that facilitate achievement of their academic goals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Determines eligibility based on specific requirements for each assistance program/bursary
  • Provides sound advice and expert knowledge related to OSAP and other financial assistance options
  • Liaises with several external agencies to verify information, define eligible and/or request supporting documentation
  • Maintains accurate student records
  • Prepares and coordinates Ministry audits related to financial assistance activity
  • Sits as a member of the Tuition Fee Bursary Committee
  • Recommends content for various informational brochures
  • Provides direction and assistance to the Financial Aid Office staff
  • Responsible for the planning and execution of OSAP outreach programs, loan repayment seminars, and budgeting workshops

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word applications (particularly Excel)
  • Familiar with the Ontario Government’s, “ONe–key” secure network to access OSAP information
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize large volumes of data
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ progressive experience in a Student Financial Assistance Office with increasing responsibility
  • Ability to apply strict confidentiality, including compliance with FIPPA requirements
  • Completion of a three (3) year diploma in Office Administration, Business, Accounting or related field
  • Proven customer service skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • An ability to apply an understanding of diversity and inclusiveness to meet the needs of a diverse student population
