Job Description:

As the role of the Pharmacist continues to expand so should that of the Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) particularly in very busy dispensaries. We propose expanding and redefining the role of a qualified RPhT to that of a “Dispensary Supervisor”. In this new model, the Pharmacist Manager continues to be the Designated Manager with the College and remains in charge of all pharmacy activities and staff members including the Dispensary Supervisor and does so without having to manage all technical and administrative aspects of pharmacy operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage returns and drug recalls.
  •  Ensure that specialty items, medications, and over the counter inventory levels are adequate to meet customers’ needs
  • Resolve any issues with Pharmacy
  • Enhanced Support (PES), third party billing, IT, audits, manual reversals, ordering processes etc.
  • Inform patients and staff about the Drug Stewardship Program and encourage them to observe safe medication practices by safely returning any unwanted medications and medical sharps
  • Perform quarterly Naloxone reporting and temperature log reporting where mandated
  • Complete medication incident reports and develop an action plan with the Pharmacy Manager to educate staff to prevent reoccurrence
  • Work collaboratively with the Pharmacist on Duty to help resolve patient issues and concerns in a timely and positive manner while utilizing outstanding customer service skills and a strong sense of professionalism
  • Frequently check Flip and generic pharmacy email account and respond to any actionable items Support outreach activities like Physician outreach, Community outreach and community engagement activities
  • Ensure compliance with provincial and federal pharmacy regulations as well as Loblaw Standard Operating Procedures and Policies Maintain pharmacy conditions and standards according to the Loblaw Accountability Report, Monthly Self Audits and Accreditation.
  • Perform any duties delegated by the Pharmacy manager.
  • Responsible for providing positive team leadership and promoting engagement amongst the Pharmacy team In collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager, accountable for the financial and operational success of the department
  • Review and control costs at all levels within Loblaw Pharmacy Communicate effectively with Pharmacy Manger to Coordinate projects and awareness of team schedule to ensure adequate coverage for absent colleagues

Job Requirements:

  • Registered pharmacy technician certification and maintained registration with appropriate pharmacy association where applicable A professional and positive approach to communicating with all colleagues.
  • Strong and collaborative leader and team player High level of professionalism
  • Knowledge of technical specialties, related process
  • Ability to implement practical procedures of systems which are moderately complex Leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to handle cash accurately
  • Experience with Kroll or Health Watch an asset Respect for the confidential and individual rights of our customers
  • Understanding financial and operational success of the department
  • Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, supervisors, suppliers, physicians and customers
