Job Description:
The Transport Supervisor (Dispatch) is responsible for ensuring driver productivity through timely dispatching and reviewing performance upon return (as required).
Job Responsibilities:
- Enter all loads into gatehouse program
- Arrange rental equipment as required
- Verify specialty equipment requirements
- Coordinate shunt moves
- Troubleshoot inquiries from warehouse, shunters, drivers and carriers
- Review routing sessions and make necessary changes
- Hand out keys for tractors, stop manifest and load ID sheets; record on appropriate tracking mechanisms
- Collect POD’s and enter service level
- Time stamp driver’s time sheet
- Log drivers in and out of Isotrak
- Set up overnight/long haul activities
- Communicate with the warehouse colleagues to determine where work will be staged
- Manage and execute drop/switch programs with vendors
- Answer phones and trouble shoot dispatch related issues (breakdowns, hours, delivery problems)
- Manage out of service equipment, arrange for repair, tag and lock out
- Manage VOR in Isotrak
- Ensure all loads are dispatched on time
- Communicate any changes to plan (e.g. delays, backhauls, rushes) as required
- Communicate with dunnage colleagues to determine what needs to be loaded
Job Requirements:
- Must have the ability to multitask, make decisions and problem solve
- Must have strong leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills are an asset
- Minimum 1 Year Of Supervisory/Management Experience
- College Education preferred
- 3-5 years of related work experience
