Job Responsibilities:

Fully owning your features through every phase of SDLC: requirement discovery (working with business or other teams), architecture, design, programming, adequate testing, configuration and deployment
Everyone in the team (on a rotating basis) share the duty to monitor, investigate, and resolve operational issues arising in production (this will take no more than 30% of your time)
Recommending development priorities, taking into account both commercial benefit, and engineering risks
Working on systems that provide real-time risk figures to currency/commodity traders, with focus on back-end microservices and in-house operational datastore technology, running on Java-based platforms
Picking up knowledge and expertise from the team, and sharing your own, so that everyone becomes a better engineer

Job Requirements:

Experience building scalable distributed systems
Willing to learn new technologies/programming languages
Comfortable working with software that is rapidly changing, and fast release cycles
Experience developing microservices
Strong core Java 1.8 development experience
Deep understanding of best engineering practices for full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code review, source control, build, test, deployment, and operations
Understanding of foreign exchange trading
Experience with DBMSs, Linux
Willing to investigate issues and improve production systems, including components made by others
Functional programming experience (ideally Clojure/Lisp)
Experience building complex software systems that had been successfully delivered to customers
Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and self-motivation
Excellent problem solving skills
Critical thinking, ability to work under pressure
Strong logic and computer science fundamentals
Experience working in a global team that is spread across time zones (in our case: Toronto, New York, Guangzhou, Hong
Kong, London, Krakow)
Knowledge of network layers/protocols underlying HTTP
Willing to influence architecture and processes within the development organization
