Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Chief Paramedical of Respiratory Services, performs pulmonary function, methacholine challenge and cardiopulmonary stress procedures. Assists with the maintenance and quality control of equipment and completes documentation as required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides clinical instruction to Cariboo College Respiratory Therapy students during Pulmonary Function Lab rotations, as required.
  • In conjunction with Chief Paramedical and the Clinical Resource Therapist assists in the evaluation and selection of new equipment.
  • Completes and files testing documents and records.
  • Assists in providing related orientation and in service training for department.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Performs pulmonary function procedures including spirometry, lung volume determination, diffusion capacity, inhalation challenges, and arterial blood gas punctures.
  • Performs cardiopulmonary exercise studies.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care credentialing exam.
  • Eligible for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT).
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Level C. One year’s recent related experience in an accredited level three pulmonary function lab.
