Job Description:

The Executive Dean is accountable for the planning, development, maintenance and ongoing review of the Faculty’s full-time post-secondary programs and the development of new programs to reflect market changes and the employment needs of the industry. The incumbent will represent the Faculty both internally to the College and externally to the various stakeholders/partners. Establishing positive relationships with the community, industry and business representatives and participating in the College’s student recruitment and job placement initiatives are parts of this leadership position. Finally, the successful candidate will contribute to and/or take the lead on college-wide initiatives and committees

Job Requirements:

  • Have a minimum of seven years of significant leadership experience in an academic setting and a demonstrated track record of excellence in management, leadership and team development;
  • Have experience fostering a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and a commitment to the Indigenous Education Protocol for Colleges and Institutes;
  • Have proven ability to develop, lead and maintain partnerships internally, with other educational institutions and the broader local, national and international communities; and
  • Hold a Master’s degree, with a Ph.D. being an asset, in a relevant academic discipline with a background as a practicing artist, designer, scholar and/or experience in and knowledge of a creative arts or cultural sector environment;
  • Have outstanding communication, negotiation and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with a wide range of individuals with diverse backgrounds and needs;
  • Possess skills in conflict resolution, strong advocacy abilities to support students, faculty and staff, as well as familiarity with the changing landscapes in both industry and post-secondary education sectors.
  • Possess strong administrative skills, with a proven capacity to handle considerable detail, excel in program accreditation processes, set goals and achieve objectives;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and faculty development;
