Job Description:
The Department, inclusive of the Design Major (DART), Computation Arts (CART), and Master of Design (MDes) programs, fosters teaching, research, and service activities that aim to solve complex problems and challenge the boundaries of traditional design disciplines. Multidisciplinary research-creation is a key aspect of this position.
Job Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to teach existing courses and develop new innovative courses in visual culture, participate in student mentorship, and impact student learning through transformative models, methods and materials for multi-mediated design communication and interaction. We are seeking a critical-thinking and future-oriented colleague who prioritizes design justice through equity, diversity, and inclusion. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate experience in working with marginalized, historically underrepresented, intersectional and/or other systemically minoritized communities in the creation of media/visual communication
Job Requirements:
Candidates must have a terminal degree (such as a PhD, MFA, or MDes) or the equivalent combination of education and professional experience. The main criteria for selection are scholarly and teaching excellence. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high-quality scholarly and creative output that demonstrates potential for independent research-creation leading to peer assessed publications, exhibitions, or other outputs and the securing of external research funding, as well as strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates are encouraged to share any career interruptions or personal circumstances that may have had an impact
