Job Description:
he Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full time, permanent IT Specialist (Developer) to work in the DATIS department in the Provincial System Support Program (PSSP). DATIS develops, maintains and supports multiple provincial data systems for use in clinical service planning and delivery, quality improvement and mandated reporting. Our customers include community-based service providers, Ontario Health, Ministry of Health, Public Health Units, researchers and other stakeholders. This position is located at 33 Ursula Franklin Street; PSSP currently works fully remotely but this is subject to change.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide support for testing and fixing defects in existing and new code
- Activities related to planning and development of DATIS’ Java applications and systems
- Develop and test code for enhancement to existing software and development of new features
- Provide support in administering systems, such as the DATIS Interface Web Services API, CBI database, GAIN and IAR projects
- The IT specialist will also perform other IT related duties as assigned
- In collaboration with DATIS team, plan for new products and changes to existing systems
Job Requirements:
- Ability to independently conduct and research into emerging technologies, trends, standards and products as required.
- Bilingualism (French/or second language) is considered an asset
- Experience with Java/J2EE programming, Web Services, JSON, XML Messaging and Microsoft Office Suite
- 3 years of experience in a technical development support role
- Experience using various software tools and IDEs (such as NetBeans, JDeveloper, etc…).
- Experience with Data Warehousing design and maintenance using SAP Business Objects and Data Integrator
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team of technically-oriented individuals
- Experience in developing and executing test plans using Agile methodology is an asset
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills for identifying and remediating issues, designing and maintain coding with use of best practices in security
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and problem solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a computer-related field
- Strong organizing skills while working in pressure situations and dealing with conflicting priorities/deadlines
- Experience with Crystal Reports, Oracle SQL developer,
- Attention to detail, superior tact, diplomacy and sound judgement and the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Experience in website development is an asset
- Experience in health data management systems (preferably in the addictions and/or mental health sectors)
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision, and will thrive in a dynamic, diverse environment
- Able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment with aggressive project timeframes
