Job Description:
CTV News Vancouver is seeking a full-time, highly creative Digital Writer and Reporter to join our dynamic team located in the heart of downtown Vancouver. The successful applicant must have experience in writing, editing and content creation and must be able to hit the ground running in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom that covers breaking news.
Job Responsibilities:
- Post stories to multiple social media streams (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) and send email news alerts
- Write and edit editorial for the CTV News Vancouver website
- Moderate public comments on Facebook and Twitter
- Create and manage digital video content and livestreams, including auto-play videos for social media
- Package and publish content to the site with Google optimization and SEO keywords
- Provide peer copy editing for fellow web reporters
- Adapt TV stories for print, cover breaking stories as they happen and pitch original story ideas
Job Requirements:
- Degree in journalism
- Proven awareness of emerging mobile news standards
- Focus on accuracy
- Demonstrated knowledge of news and current affairs
- Experience working with online publishing programs, graphics software (Photoshop)
- Exceptional team player
- Relevant web-based news editing and reporting experience
- Proficiency with social media apps and understanding of social trends
- Excellent writing and editing skills with a strong grasp of CP Style
- Ability to maintain creativity and handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure and deadline-driven environment
- Enthusiasm for new technology and storytelling techniques
- Keen ability to think visually and apply graphic design elements to storytelling
